Airchamber Basics

The fans used on Airchamber systems move fresh air through on a constant basis. This prevents the buildup of stagnant air and condensation from temperature changes. They do not remove humidity, however, humidity is not a bad thing as long as it’s in the air. That means it is not in your car. Humidity helps to preserve the natural properties of leather, wood, rubber, and other materials used in classic and modern cars. Dehumidifiers are not generally necessary with Airchamber systems.

Yes, Airchamber units include a static-trap filtration system which is adjacent to the fan. This filter system prevents most airborne particles and dust from entering the Airchamber once zippered and sealed. There is no need for additional air filtration under normal use.

Yes - Airchamber Storage Systems are available in multiple sizes for a wide range of cars, boats, and motorcycles. Pricing and sizing is available here on the product purchase page. Airchamber is manufactured using premium materials including heavy-duty clear vinyl panels. The edges, frame covering, and flooring are also heavy-duty vinyl and only available in black and charcoal gray respectfully. Zippers are only available in red.

Airchamber systems are shipped unassembled and complete with all the necessary parts and components for use. Airchamber systems carry a 12-month limited liability warranty against any manufacturer defects. For any reason your Airchamber isn't functioning as expected, we will assist you with proper assembly and troubleshooting. See our warranty page for a detailed explanation of our warranty coverage.

Using Your Airchamber

Yes, Airchamber units need to be located near a 120V (ideally a grounded outlet) power source for the transformer that powers the high-efficiency fans that keep the air circulating. It is also recommended to use a powered air pump or vacuum to initially inflate your Airchamber. Although you can inflate your Airchamber using the supplied fan and power supply, it is quicker to do so using the previously mentioned methods. The fans cost approximately $10 - $12 dollars a year to operate.

Airchamber is engineered to be virtually maintenance-free. To maintain optimal performance we recommend cleaning the fan filters periodically which keeps the fans running smoothly and your Airchamber environment cleaner. The outer shell can be wiped down with a dust cloth if needed. For a complete list, see our maintenance tips.

Airchamber has been designed for indoor use only. Most owners use them in garages, barns, hangars, warehouses, and storage facilities. It is not recommended to assemble or leave your Airchamber exposed to the elements outdoors for any length of time. Any exposure to sunlight should be fine since Airchamber is constructed with UV-resistant PVC materials but long term exposure is not recommended.

Airchamber vinyl is cold crack rated to -10 degrees Fahrenheit. The materials used in each Airchamber system are manufactured to withstand extremely cold temperatures and enhanced to withstand cracking from impact without having to 'warm up' to warmer temperatures first.

The best practice is to leave the windows halfway or fully down to allow for the air to circulate fully throughout the interior. This will allow the natural materials to breathe, thus preventing mildew and stagnation. Another best practice is to leave the trunk open and the doors partially latched on the striker but not fully closed. This keeps the doors and hinges supported but stops the rubber seals from becoming compressed and allows air to circulate through the trunk – often a damp place! if you choose this method, check and be sure to turn off interior lighting or disconnect the battery if storing your vehicle for extended periods of time.

The best practice is to leave top up and locked. Moisture can be trapped in a top that is down - in the stowed position - which will lead to mildew, rot and corrosion of the metal frame. Also, leaving the top down for extended periods of time will lead to unsightly creases in the fabric and plastic rear window.

The clear PVC material used in Airchamber systems is 0.15mm. This is approximately 0.01 inches or 6 mil. Plastic sheeting is measured in mils - a unit of measure. It's important to note that a mil is not the same thickness as a millimeter. A mil is a measurement that equals one-thousandth of an inch, or 0.001 inch. One mil also equals 0.0254 mm (millimeter). For comparison, a standard rigid plastic credit card is about 30 mils. 6 mils is incredibly strong, flexible, and has a high impact tolerance.
